FODS were recently installed at the Trex Headquarters Expansion Project in Winchester, Virginia to minimize trackout and maintain environmental compliance. Trex is the leading manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing worldwide. Their high-performance composites have become the top choice for green building materials and durable decking products. Trex is an eco-friendly option that can enable contractors to gain LEED certification points as their products are made with 95% recycled material.

Sustained demand for Trex products has fueled the company to create new products to add to their their existing lines. In response to the high growth, Trex recently kicked off a major project at their headquarters in Winchester, VA. This $200 million project will increase the plant’s manufacturing capacity and allow Trex to continue to supply contractors and home owners with durable composite products. These expansions are expected to create more than 150 local jobs.

Naturally, the expansion included extensive site-preparation, excavation and grading. Perry Engineering, the sitework contractor, utilized FODS Trackout Control mats as their stabilized construction entrance system. The mats effectively remove sediment from vehicle tires keeping debris contained on the job site. Installed for use in both dry and wet conditions, FODS Reusable Construction Entrance unique pyramid-studded design continued to deform tires and release sediment trapped in tire treads. As vehicles exit the site, FODS successfully prevent mud from being tracked into the busy roadway and help to increase compliance with NPDES stormwater requirements.

Like Trex, FODS also values reducing environmental impact. The reusable, durable FODS construction entrance system is the green alternative to one-time-use stone. FODS Stabilized Construction Entrance is made of a durable HDPE plastic which incorporates post-industrial material and is 100% recyclable. After the Trex project is complete, the FODS system can be utilized on many more projects for years to come, greatly reducing environmental cost.
