F.A.Q

Q. WHAT IS FODS?

A. The purpose and design of the FODS Trackout Control mats is to effectively remove sediment from vehicle tires as they exit a disturbed land area onto a paved street.

Q. WHY DO I NEED FODS?

A. The FODS Trackout Control mats help sediment control by deforming the tire which in effect spreads the tire lugs apart to deposit or leave the dirt, rock, mud, or other sediment on the mat. The different shapes and sizes of the various mat surfaces will act differently on the tire as they roll across it. As the tires roll across the mat the different shapes will scrape, clean, deform, and wipe debris from off the tires. Once the tires reach the street, they will be virtually clean from any material.

Q. HOW BIG IS A SINGLE FODS MAT?

A. FODS mats are 12' wide x 7' long and are 430lbs

Q. HOW DO I INSTALL FODS?

A. The FODS mats are to be transported to the construction site on a large truck or trailer. The mats are easily stackable and will not exceed the width requirements for highway transportation. The mats will then be off loaded into place with a forklift or truck mounted boom or jib crane into place on the in situ soils. No excavation or disturbance of the existing soil is necessary. Once the mat is correctly situated in placed, soil anchors are to be installed through the mats to hold into place. The Vortex 8” steel-spiral soil anchor is to be manually torqued through pre-drilled holes in the FODS mat. We recommend providing a minimum of two anchors per mat.

Q. WHERE ARE GOOD PLACES TO INSTALL FODS?

A. Construction Sites, Airports, State and Local Governments, Agriculture, Forestry, Oil/Gas, Energy, Telecommunication, and Mining are all in need of the FODS Trackout Control System every day. Contact FODS today for a quote!
